Research and teach

A PhD alongside a job and a family is not justified by the title. It is justified by the question.

The thesis

ICube laboratory (UMR 7357), CSIP team, University of Strasbourg. Doctoral school 269 MSII. Defense planned for 2028.

“Toward an innovative contingency model of agile performance: identifying success and failure factors, and contradictions, in the context of Industry 5.0”

Official title, in French: « Vers un modèle innovant contingencé de performance agile : identification des facteurs de succès et d’échec ainsi que les contradictions dans le contexte de l’industrie 5.0 »

My thesis is about organizational agility in product lifecycle management (PLM) contexts. Agility is not a topic next to Lean: it is one interpretation of it, the one the software world made. Searching there is searching in the same place.

What I want is for an answer to be tested before it is spread. A peer-reviewed conference, supervisors who push back, reviewers who reject: it is the only mechanism I know that keeps a good idea from turning into a belief. It is exactly what part of what is taught today under the name of Lean has been missing.

Teaching

Visiting lecturer at the University of Strasbourg, where I train and certify students in Lean Six Sigma, from Yellow to Green Belt.

I teach for the same reason I became an instructor at the dojo. It is the part of my work I protect the most: it pays almost nothing, and it forces me to understand what I think I know.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Second-year master’s in Industrial Management and Innovation, Faculty of Economics and Management, since 2026/2027. 56 hours of courses across the 6 DMAIC phases, a case study defended before a jury and a 100-question exam, for a University of Strasbourg certificate.

  • Lean 5.0

    Second-year master’s, University of Strasbourg

  • Product Management powered by AI

    Second-year master’s, University of Strasbourg

  • Project management and tutored project

Professional bachelor’s (PPO), Faculty of Physics and Engineering, 2026/2027

  • Corporate social responsibility

Second-year master’s in QHSE, continuing education, Faculty of Economics and Management

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Second-year master’s in Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Physics and Engineering, since 2021 (lectures, tutorials and exam). Several hundred students certified.

People often ask me whether artificial intelligence will replace all this. It will make it more necessary: automating a wasteful process produces automated waste, faster and more opaque. The real question is not AI versus method. It is whether you will put AI in the service of thinking, or in place of thinking.
